Reply Bren 7th April 2013 Thank you, we are self taught and haven't been on any courses, lots of googling and reading though :D . One thing we found handy was books written specifically for our cameras by Charlotte K Lowrie. What I love about these books they are in plain english without all the technical jargon that just whooshes over your head at times. Reply visitinghousesandgardens 7th April 2013 thank you for the tip. sadly, I do really badly at reading books (that's why I have to visit houses & gardens rather than just read about them). I spied a great course at the V&A but they've changed it from a 4 day solid course to 10-2 over 8 weeks for this year (i.e. for stay at home mums or the self-employed). I plan on doing a different one this summer - I learned loads from a man at Jessops (RIP) in 10 minutes so I'm sure a solid course is where I should be, because why have 1k of equipment just to put it on automatic and push click. Reply visitinghousesandgardens 7th April 2013 p.s. I've bought the Canon 550D book from Amazon though as it's less than a tenner and will see if I can stick with it. Thanks for the tip. Reply Bren 9th April 2013 What I found handy was reading the book and going through the camera settings practically... I have a load of useless shots of my dining room but I found that it made me understand the book more by playing with the camera.
