Off to Down House
A couple of weeks ago, we decided to go to Eltham Palace to the Joust.. oh yes the heavens opened and we didn’t get many shots of the actual Joust… but anyway we decided to join the English Heritage… we couldn’t resist really as they were offering 15 months membership for the price of 12.
The following weekend we went back to Eltham Palace and this Saturday we decided to go to the home of Charles Darwin, Down House.
Unfortunately there is no photography in the house, which is rather a shame as some of the rooms were stunning and I would have loved to capture them… but rules are rules.
Throughout the gardens amongst the borders are many digitalis plants. They were in full bloom and in various shades of pink and white.
The gardens are spectacular and to be honest we thought the gardens may have been slightly bigger but the planting and trees made the gardens look exquisite.
A picture taken by him indoors is of this brick arch.. I just love the wall the gardens were walled the way this arched framed part of that garden.
All in all we had a good day.. just a shame we couldn’t shoot in the house..but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and now we are off to capture some more English Heritage sites.. as well as those we have not yet visited that are maintained by the National Trust.
