Well today I took the plunge… I have been saying for ages that I want to get the Photomatix Pro 5 software for creating HDR shots and today is the day. I got 15% off of the purchase price by using the coupon that is on Trey Ratcliff’s blog Stuck in Customs. I am an avid fan of Trey’s HDR work and thought it is about time I took the plunge and got the software.
This is my first attempt at using Photomatix Pro 5 and I used three auto-bracketed handheld shots taken at Bodiam Castle back in June 2012, using +2, 0 and -2 stops exposures. I then exported them via Lightroom to Photomtix Pro 5 after doing a few minor adjustments.
Once they were exported to Photomatix Pro and my adjustments were complete I then reimported the final HDR image back into Lightroom, where I just added a couple of radial filters and a vignette.
This is the final result
And here is a black and white version of the above phtograph.
I am very pleased with the results, and I will be taking more auto-bracketed photos in future and I also find Photomatix Pro 5 really does bring out even the smallest detail. Very pleased with my purchase… roll on our next trip out.
