Colour, Black and white or ……

A total catastrophe.. 😀 😀  To be honest, I don’t know which… Yes I have done the usual thing, processed it, walked away from it… gone back to it… but the only trouble is every time I go and have another look at it… my mind keeps changing.

This is the original photo… liked the flower and I liked the yellow and brown in the petals and what attracted me to it was the blue hazy lights in the back.. but I don’t like the overall photo.

So I decided to add a texture and see if that cheered it up a bit…  I added layers, changed the levels, played around with a gradient tool and then exported it back to Lightroom and added a couple of radial filters.  I ended up with this image…

I wanted the texturing and colouring to resemble the shape of the leaves and no matter how many times I keep going back to this photo I am still unsure of it… Don’t you hate it when you can’t decide.  But the burning question is… should this photo even be worthy of being put on this website?…

And I have to say, yes, simply because as far as processing is concerned… this one photo is standing firmly in all the categories of colour, monochrome and catastrophe.

Here is the black and white version.

Now if anyone feels like taking the original image and processing it and having a go to see what they can come up with … please feel free… all I ask is that you post your processed photo in the comments below and a quick synopsis of how you achieved the said effect.

I am an amateur photographer, blogger and digital artist as well as being the female half of RyanPhotography. We both have a keen interest in landscape and floral photography. And we live in Kent, also known as the Garden of England, in the United Kingdom. We both have a desire to travel and hopefully one day move to somewhere where it is picturesque and a photographer's delight.

I just love comments... Thanks for stopping by...
