Mothering weekend for me started on Saturday when my husband bought his mum and I some wonderful flowers … actually our favourite flower place is along the A13 in a layby… they have such beautiful flowers at very reasonable prices. And believe it or not, unlike other places, they don’t hike their prices because it is Mothering Sunday.
After visiting my in-laws on Saturday.. in the evening we decided to have a drive to Rochester Castle… for the sunset. But unfortunately as the sky was cloud free.. the sunset was nothing to write home about. Anyway I did manage to capture this image of Rochester Castle.
Using another Preset in Lightroom I changed the change the entire colours of the image.
Then it was Mothering Sunday
For mother’s day my son cooked for his fiancé and me.. well I was well and truly impressed with his cooking skills.. but my future daughter-in-law and I wanted to interfere with the cooking… and we found ourselves finding it very hard not too.
He prepared everything… planned his timings and did a full three course meal. Wow am I impressed. Mind you his fiancé, Hannah and I were finding it very difficult sitting there without interfering… you know what us women are like in our kitchens! 😀 😀
For starter’s you could have Pate or Prawn Cocktail, for main he did Chicken and Beef Roast, with Roast Potatoes, Vegetables, and Yorkshire Puddings.
And for our dessert we got Profiteroles and cream. The food was very, very tasty. We all thoroughly enjoyed each mouthful. I think what made Mothering Sunday so special, was the effort that he put into cooking for both of us on Mothers day and by making the day about me and his fiancé, which was lovely and thoughtful.
However, my son and Hannah did make me well up with tears of happiness. They gave me for Mother’s Day a beautiful Willow Tree figurine of a mother and son. My god the tears came to my eyes like jets of water. And the realisation that my little boy is now a grown man, soon to be husband and a father. I feel so proud of him. They also gave me a Yankee candle. They know I like my candles.
My son and future daughter-in-law, both, made my day so special. Thank you both. Spending time with my grandchildren was an added bonus. Bless their hearts, they were as good as gold and our little Evie is getting a right little character. So funny. The entertainment was provided by two Cocker Spaniel 9 week old pups, who kept us on our toes. Families are so special and I blessed with the loving family I have around me.
It was a glorious weekend… one that I will treasure forever.
