Well there is nothing like doing a bit of spring cleaning, is there? Firstly my deepest apologies to those readers who’ve tried to gain access to the site and came across our Under Construction page. Well you see it all started last week when I had theme problems.. and the guys who code and support this theme, are spectacular and fantastic.
It took one of them a few days to sort out the problem.. and it turned out it wasn’t even theme related, but they persevered and solved the issue. You see I love this theme and even though I have tried other themes in the past.. I still return to this Striking Theme created by Kaptinlin at Themeforest.
Well I had over 1300 posts and god knows how many images on this blog dating back to 2012. When I started this blog my intention was to see how my photography improved over the months, if ever it did. However, when looking back on old photos from yonks ago, I started to cringe. The composition was wrong, the horizons weren’t straight, the image was flat, you know all those niggly things that annoy you about an image.
So when my theme was back up and running, Thanks BackuPs, my next task was to decide how this blog is going to go… if in 5 years I’ve accumulated over 1300 posts what is it going to be like in another 5 years? Chaos and totally a shambles.
So I decided to put the site into Under Maintenance mode and work on the posts I want to keep and those that made me cringe.
It means rather a lot of culling.. which I am in the process of, and I apologise to people who’ve saved links and now find the photos are not there but give me time and they will be back (re-processed) in their correct Portfolio. I have left all the tutorials, tips and Photo Challenge posts I have done over the years.. and am deleting everything else.
The future consists of limiting myself to three posts a week, and to maintain proper Portfolios of the places we have visited.
- Mondays – Photos that have been processed the week before, will be put into one blog post with the relevant image added to the Portfolio Page
- Wednesdays (if time permits) – A photograph that has been submitted to the WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge
- Fridays (if time permits) – A tip or tutorial post either showing how I edited the photograph or a video that will give you Lightroom or Photoshop tips (Please notes videos will be created by other photographer’s and not me – So please go and give them a thumbs up on YouTube if you like the tip).
Anyway it is back to vicious pruning for me… and hopefully I will get to do my first blog post on Tuesday next week as it is Bank Holiday Monday here in the UK.
Have a great weekend everyone.
