A monochrome photograph of a Rhododendron taken at Doddington Place near Sittingbourne in Kent
Both of our visits to Doddington Place, this year and last year were Easter Time… and back in Spring 2015… the rhododendrons, magnolias and tree blossom were springing into life..

As summer fades here in the UK and we are heading towards Autumn and its wonderful fall colours… I think of those cold dismal winter days, were it rains and rains and rains some more… and how I wish spring would arrive. I love winter on cold frosty mornings and the winter sun… I love the snow (if we ever get any) and how it changes everything… even barren untidy places start to glisten in the newly laid snow, but I hate the heavy rain and dark thunderous clouds… I don’t even mind if we have the odd light but constant rain… no thanks you can keep it.
Have a great weekend everyone…
As you walk towards the Old Castle at Scotney from the main house, there is an incline down to the castle. Just a few feet down this incline… is a lovely spot with a semi-circular bench where you can take in the views of the countryside.
The photograph below is of those hills in the distance and down in the lower fields are the sheep grazing and getting ready for lambing.

As I turned to walk back down to the castle there is a tree that is just starting to get its new shoots… It really felt like spring was in the air… even though it was bitterly cold.

New Shoots and Blooms…
On Saturday, as that was the only day the weather was fine, we went to Emmetts Garden, near Sevenoaks… as we walked around the gardens you could see the new buds on the Rhododendrons and the new leaves that were just sprouting. It reallys make you as if Spring has finally sprung and Summer is just around the corner.
