Rework of Great Comp Gardens and House

Rework of Great Comp Gardens and House

I have to say I am really enjoying myself with Topaz Impresssion and it is a wonderful plugin to add to my Topaz Collection.  Again I feel very humbled that Jodi Robbins of Topaz Labs asked me to do another tutorial for their blog… which you can read here and it is based on using Topaz Texture Effects and Topaz Adjust to get a peeling paint effect image.

Within the grounds of Great Comp were some winter flowers which were absolutely beautiful in colour and this is a photograph I took of one of those flowers.

A purple flower with raindrops on petals processed in Lightroom and Topaz Impression.

And for this image I used my scaling technique to make the photograph more about the flower.

Well being indisposed and not being able to get out and about does have it benefits.. it means I have been able sort out some things on my computer… learn a bit more of Photoshop.. and find a whole new form of art… However, I was going through some old photos to see if there was any images I could process when I came across this vibrant flower which was taken at Great Comp Gardens near Sevenoaks in Kent.

On Saturday during our visit to Great Comp Garden near Sevenoaks in Kent, we came across a flower bed full of daisy like flowers, in various shades of pink and purple.. I just love how the raindrops have neatly rested on the petals.

Lately these two little perishers have been playing silly games when it has come to have their photographs taken.  Especially if I ask them to sit nicely and pose… no way.  But the trick to this photograph was by holding a camera and a Bonio in my mouth.  As you can see their eyes are glued to the Bonio and no  they don’t taste nice.

Just about to bloom….

Just about to bloom….

Taken at Eltham Palace Gardens in June 2013.  What I love about this photograph is the dark purple veins that are etched into the petals… and how dark those buds are just before they are about to bloom.

Godinton House and Gardens

Godinton House and Gardens

Finding somewhere to go in the winter come early spring is thwart with difficulty at times.  Most places are shut until the start of Easter especially if you love visiting stately homes with gardens.  So you are limited, of course we could go back to the old places we have visited, which we did the other day by revisiting Scotney Castle, but sometimes you long for a new venture.

Somewhere different, some place you have never been to before, and another place to photograph.

So as time was limited on Saturday afternoon, it had to be somewhere local.. Ashford isn’t too far away, just down the M20 so, we decided to go to Godinton House and Gardens.

Again there wasn’t many people there and we had some wonderful photo opportunities, photographing the exterior of the house and surrounding countryside.  Photographs which I am at the moment processing.  But here is a few photographs of the spring flowers, that was on show at Godinton… and Godinton will definitely be on our list to revisit this summer.  We could only imagine how beautiful the gardens will look in summer, so it is a must for us to return.
