Halo

Halo

halo-img006-2

Where I am not able to get out and about much with this dreaded hip… (can’t wait for the op now, boredom and frustration are setting in)… photography has had to take a bit of a back burner…  And as silly as it sounds… going through old photos of places of where we have been… makes me feel even more down that I can’t get out and about.

So to combat this, I have taken to doing Digital Art in Photoshop, I am still much a novice… but believe me… it is teaching me a whole lot more about Photoshop… clipping masks, layer masks, adjustment layers, filters.

What I am loving is once I have created my artwork.. I can then go one step further in Lightroom as well as other software programmes I use, like Topaz Adjust, Texture Effects and Nik Software.

Here are a few of the other processing techniques I have used on this image.

Woodland Walks at Knole

The month of March
Has just blown in,
To say that Spring
Will soon begin.

March roars in like a lion,
With a bluster and a slam!
And tiptoes out gently
Like a quiet little lamb.

Split-Toning

Split-Toning

A photograph of a tulip taken at Merriments Gardens in East Sussex, processed in B&W without Split Toning

I was playing around today with an image I took at Merriments Gardens in East Sussex.  As soon as I saw the image I knew I wanted to create a monochrome image of this tulip… I loved the shine on the petals.

Anyway after processing the image I thought about playing around with the Split Toning Panel in Lightroom. Originally the tulip was a red colour so I kept my image to crimson shades.

I love how the split-toning gave a shine to the photograph, so I decided to take it one step further and thought about a purple tulip.  So I altered the values of the split-toning to create a purple tulip

And then I thought about a gold looking tulip… so again I just played around with the colours in the split-toning panel

It is surprising how playing around with split-toning can turn a monochrome photograph into a toned colour photo.  Below are the values I used for each photograph.

First buds of spring 2015…

First buds of spring 2015…

Both of our visits to Doddington Place, this year and last year were Easter Time… and back in Spring 2015… the rhododendrons, magnolias and tree blossom were springing into life..

As summer fades here in the UK and we are heading towards Autumn and its wonderful fall colours… I think of those cold dismal winter days, were it rains and rains and rains some more… and how I wish spring would arrive.  I love winter on cold frosty mornings and the winter sun… I love the snow (if we ever get any) and how it changes everything… even barren untidy places start to glisten in the newly laid snow, but I hate the heavy rain and dark thunderous clouds… I don’t even mind if we have the odd light but constant rain… no thanks you can keep it.

Have a great weekend everyone…

Just Blooming

Just Blooming

New Dahlia Bloom

A photograph of a new dahlia bloom taken at Pashley Manor Gardens in East Sussex

Lately my photography has taken me to photographing a lot of flowers… whether it is because I am now confined I don’t know.. but I am thoroughly enjoying my new passion of photographing such beautiful blooms and buds… especially those with such vibrant colours.

As you stroll around the grounds of Pashley Manor you come to the Old Moat which has a small island in the middle.  To gain access to the island you cross the small wrought iron bridge.. once on the island you come across this concrete gazebo which is by the Anne Boleyn statue.  I can image this place as being a favourite location to shoot a bride and groom’s wedding photos. xx
