Allington Locks
On the River at Allington Locks, Maidstone, Kent.

Whey hey, I am home from hospital.  My right hip has been replaced and I can now walk without that excruciating pain. Taking it careful for the next 6 weeks to stop any chance of dislocation I am finding hard.  However, I am so glad that awful pain has finally gone.  I was only in hospital for 3 nights.  And by Monday I felt good enough to have a little stroll along the banks of the River Medway at Allington Locks, near Maidstone in Kent. Purple asters from the Gardens of Great Comp

Great Comp gardens near Sevenoaks in Kent was the last formal gardens we visited.   The location of the gardens in Sevenoaks are  local to us.  Which means a short drive away from where we live. A shadowed path at Leeds Castle near Maidstone in Kent, processed in Topaz Impression and Powder Paint Effect.

As many of you may have gathered by now I am an avid Lightroom User and if I can do all of my processing in Lightroom I will.  Have WordPress excelled themselves?  You bet they have, but I will get back to that in a moment.  First of all it seems absolutely ages since I did a WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge and this week’s theme is called Shadow.  And I found the perfect photograph from Leeds Castle which has loads of shadows in it. Dahlia Floral

Pom Pom Dahlia from Lullingstone – Oil Paint Effect

Pom Pom Dahlia Oil Paint Effect
A photograph of a pom-pom dahlia taken at Lullingstone Castle in Kent.

To create the above photograph, I started out in Lightroom.  To the dahlia I cropped the image and then did a few minor edits to the image.  Over-processing the image at this point was one thing I didn’t want to do, as I knew I would be giving it an Oil Paint Effect in Photoshop.
