I love roses, especially carpet roses that spread across the ground giving an abundance of colour in their delicate petals… But another flower that I love is Hydrangeas. I did have two in my garden… a white one and a blue one… The blue one unfortunately was not retriever proof, which is a shame really because when it bloomed it was such a vibrant blue. I suppose the colour was such a vibrant blue because of all those pots of Hydrangea Blue I put around the roots. 😀
When we were on our way to the New Forest in July, we stopped at a place called West Green at Hartley Wintney, which is owned and maintained by the National Trust… In amongst their flower borders was this Hydrangea that was in full bloom.
West Green is a wonderful place to walk around… and there are plenty of places to sit down and have a picnic. When we visited on the Friday…. they were preparing for a Wedding …. and the grounds were truly spectacular for such an event. Especially when the many lights that are in and around the gardens would start to glisten as the day turned into night. It would be truly romantic looking and a wonderful place to tie the knot.
