Friday Quick Tip – Download Topaz Studio

One set of plugins I love to use for my photography are those created by Topaz Labs… I have quite a few new… Remask, Black and White, Adjust, Texture Effects 2 and Impression as well as Detail.  And I love them.  So for this quick Tip I am going to send you in the direction of their FREE, yes you read that right, FREE Topaz Studio Editor software. Which available for both MAC and Windows.

Now as you all know I am a lover of Lightroom, as well as Lightroom being where I Catalogue my images, I have even been able to include Studio as an External Editor in Lightroom.  So once I have created my image in Topaz Studio by saving the image, it will automatically re-import back into Lightroom.

I just took this dull image.. straight out of Camera and sent it to Topaz Studio.. I wanted something different and believe me Topaz Studio gave me something different.  There are loads of Presets available from other users and Topaz themselves and of course you can start from scratch and create your own Preset to use at a later date, should you wish.

I used a Preset created by another Topaz User and then added some more adjustments to it. Which gave me this image.

Once I had created this image.  I saved the image and it was automatically re-import back into Lightroom.  One tip though… create a Snapshot of the original Topaz Image in Lightroom.  Because, should you wish to go back to the original image created by Topaz Studio, once Lightroom starts adding it’s adjustments it overwrites the metadata.  So to get around that I just created a Snapshot and I could return to my original image at any time.

I then added a Preset I have in Lightroom called ‘Western 2’ by Serge Ramelli and hey presto here is my final image.

So my Friday quick tip is to head on over to Topaz Studio and download this free software and give it a go.  There is a Pro Pack you can purchase should you wish to upgrade your Topaz Studio but so far I have managed without it. Whether I will invest in the Pro Pack at a later date… is another matter.. and I will of course tell you if I have purchased the Pro-Pack.

And one more thing Topaz Studio is standalone software so you can use it without using Lightroom or Photoshop… another bonus if you are looking for some cool editing software which is Free.

So for my quick tip.. run over and download it now.
